Following Ghana’s hard fought 1-0 victory over Senegal at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2025, Coach Desmond Ofei, in his post-match remarks, commended his players for their tactical discipline: “It was a very difficult game, no doubt about that,” he said, following Ghana’s 1-0 win over Senegal. “But tactically, I believe we got it right.”

Ofei acknowledged the physical nature of the Senegalese side: “Senegal came at us with a very direct and physical approach. It wasn’t easy, but our players showed great tactical discipline and fighting spirit throughout the game.”

He praised his squad’s commitment and composure under pressure, particularly in holding onto the slim lead. “The boys followed the game plan, stayed organized, and gave everything on the pitch. That’s all you can ask for as a coach.”

Looking ahead, Coach Ofei emphasized Ghana’s ambition: “Our main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. That’s the focus. Each match and positive result take us a step closer.”

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team’s fans: “We want to thank all the fans and Ghanaians back home. Your support means everything to us — we feel it all the way out here.”

On the upcoming fixture, he added: “We know the game against the Central African Republic will be difficult. But just like today, we’ll fight, prepare well, and give our best.”

Ghana next face Central African Republic on Thursday, 8th May 2025, in their last Group C match.
