Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei has called for unwavering focus and precise execution as Ghana gears up for a decisive Group C match against the Central African Republic (CAR) in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Describing the upcoming fixture as a “mini final,” Ofei highlighted its critical importance to Ghana’s progression in the tournament.
“We need a good result to guarantee qualification. This is like a final for us, and we are treating it with the urgency it deserves,” he said.
The coach acknowledged the strength of their opponents, noting CAR’s consistent goal-scoring record throughout the tournament.
“We can’t afford to be complacent against a hardworking side like CAR. They’ve shown they can hurt teams, so we must remain focused and composed,” he warned.
As for Ghana’s tactical readiness, Ofei expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and their ability to carry out the game plan.
“Our team is prepared. We’ve worked on our plan, and now it’s about delivering on the pitch,” he explained.
Ofei also took a moment to commend Egypt for its role as host, praising the organization and atmosphere of the competition.
“The tournament has been well-organized and I’m really enjoying being here. Egypt has done a fantastic job,” he added.
With a place in the knockout stage on the line, Ghana will look to rise to the occasion and deliver a performance worthy of qualification.
