Ghana’s Black Satellites have unveiled a reshuffled and strengthened starting lineup for their decisive Group C encounter against the Central African Republic at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT) at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.
With a place in the quarterfinals on the line, Ghana’s technical team has made strategic changes to the squad, aiming to balance fresh legs with experience.
Midfield dynamo Andrews Adjabeng, winger Abdul Sulemana, and forward Ishmael Addo return to the starting XI after missing out on the previous match, bringing renewed energy to the team’s offensive setup.
Defenders Maxwell Azafokpe and Joseph Aidoo have also been handed their first starts of the tournament, adding new options at the back as Ghana looks to tighten its defense.
In a notable shift, Aaron Essel takes over the captain’s armband for this match, with regular skipper Ofori McCarthy named among the substitutes.
Currently second in Group C, the Black Satellites are aiming for a commanding finish to the group stage. A win would not only guarantee their progression to the quarterfinals but also serve as a major confidence boost ahead of the knockout rounds.
The stage is set for a high-stakes encounter as Ghana looks to assert its title credentials with a strong performance in Ismailia.
