Sudan assistant coach Ignatius Osei Fosu has called on the Ghana Football Association to give local coaches more opportunities to lead national teams.
He believes that homegrown tacticians have the potential to succeed with the right support and environment.
“I’ve maintained for all of these years that I believe we have the men in Ghana, and that given the right opportunity and the right environment, they can work,” Osei Fosu said on Citi Sports.
He pointed to Ghana’s football history, noting that foreign coaches have never won a major trophy with the Black Stars. “It has been a history that no foreign coach has ever won anything for us, and so if we go by history, I think the local coaches should be given the opportunity,” he added.
Osei Fosu’s comments come amid discussions about Ghanaian football’s future and the Black Stars’ struggles on the international stage.
He advocates for giving local coaches a chance to prove themselves and lead the team to success.
