Trent Alexander-Arnold sets Champions League record in finals start

Trent Alexander-Arnold to set record-breaking milestone with Champions League start

On a night where so many stories can be written, so many dreams made realities, and countless hearts left broken, Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has written his name into club lore once again after reaching an impressive career milestone.

After being named to Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI for tonight’s Champions League final clash against global giants Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has become the youngest player in tournament history to start in three finals.

The Liverpool academy graduate surpassed Bayern Munich and Germany icon Thomas Müller in achieving the feat, with Alexander-Arnold having now been included in the matchday team in 2017-18, 2018-19, and in 2021-22.

And tonight could cap another stellar season for Alexander-Arnold after the Liverpool-native helped the club on its documented quest as they searched for a historic quadruple under beloved manager Jürgen Klopp.

Though the Reds came up short in the Premier League while finishing just one point adrift of growing domestic rival Manchester City, Liverpool did secure a domestic cup double which could still turn into another treble for the storied English giants, with Alexander-Arnold playing a vital role as ever along the way.

TAA bagged 12-assists in the Premier League, just one shy of clubmate Mohamed Salah and two ahead of fellow fullback Andrew Robertson, while also adding three assists in the Champions League and being a leading presence on the pitch in all phases of play.

Despite still being just 23-years-old and having his entire career ahead of him, Alexander-Arnold has built a reputation for himself in just five seasons that most footballers could only dream of after plying their respective trades for nearly two decades.

Regardless of the result tonight, Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to prove that a local lad from Liverpool is one of the very best the beautiful game has to offer.
