Trabzonspor approach Vlahovic as striker weighs Barcelona hopes

Trabzonspor have made an approach for Dusan Vlahovic after the Serbia striker left Juventus, opening a new front in the Turkish club’s transfer activity as they continue efforts to secure Mohamed Salah.

According to Turkish website Sporx, Trabzonspor have entered the race to sign Vlahovic by contacting his agent and submitting an initial proposal for the 25-year-old’s services.

The club’s interest comes as Vlahovic continues to wait for the possibility of joining Barcelona, which remains his preferred destination. His representatives offered the striker to the Spanish club at the start of the transfer window, but Barcelona made it clear that he was not among their priorities.

Barcelona’s position was influenced by the financial terms initially requested by Vlahovic. The player’s representatives were seeking a signing-on bonus of €10m, together with a net annual salary of €8m.

Those demands were considered unsuitable by the Catalan club, leaving Vlahovic waiting to see whether its position changes before making a decision on his future.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic has had a substantial offer from Besiktas for almost a month, reports Spanish newspaper Sport. The proposal includes a signing bonus of more than €5m and a net salary of €8m per season across the two-year contract being discussed.

Vlahovic asked for time to consider Besiktas’s offer. The Turkish club initially gave him until 10 August to respond, but the striker requested additional time because he wants to wait for further clarity over Barcelona’s intentions.

Trabzonspor’s intervention therefore adds another option to a transfer situation that remains unresolved. The club has already been pursuing a deal for Egypt international Mohamed Salah and has now begun work on what would be another major signing.

Its approach to Vlahovic was made after his departure from Juventus, with the Turkish side seeking to establish whether it can persuade him to choose Trabzonspor over the alternatives currently available to him.

The striker’s immediate priority, however, remains the possibility of a move to Barcelona. Until he receives a clearer indication from the La Liga club, he is not ready to accept Besiktas’s terms, despite the value of the proposed package.

Trabzonspor’s initial offer could now provide Vlahovic with another route, but the player’s representatives and the clubs involved are still waiting for a final decision. The uncertainty is centred on whether Barcelona will reconsider its stance and whether Vlahovic will eventually choose the Turkish league offers already on the table.
