Tottenham will use Giovani Lo Celso to help land Pau Torres from Villarreal, according to reports.
Torres is a product of Spanish outfit Villarreal’s youth system. After honing his craft on loan with Malaga, Torres has since returned to Villarreal, where he has cemented himself as a key figure in Unai Emery’s side.
The 25-year-old notched 47 appearances across all competitions for El Submarino Amarillo last term, playing a crucial role in their Champions League campaign, which saw them reach the semi-final.
The 18-time capped international has also demonstrated his impressive passing range and ability on the ball over the last few seasons, a trait which all top centre-backs need to possess in the modern game.
Such impressive form saw Torres linked with a whole host of top clubs this past summer, with the main one being Tottenham.

This comes with Antonio Conte eyeing a left-footed central defender to play on the left of a back-three instead of their only current option for that role, Ben Davies.
And now, it appears the Lilywhites could be closing in on a move for the Spaniard thanks to one of their own players.
Giovani Lo Celso spent the second half of 2021/22 on loan at Villarreal from Spurs, and the Spaniards are keen to make the move a permanent one.
Now, Sky Italia are reporting that Tottenham are working on a deal for Pau Torres and the move will involve Giovani Lo Celso.

No transfer fees are mentioned, but given previous reports suggested Tottenham would take around £17m for Lo Celso, it is expected that Spurs will still have to cough up a fair bit of cash to land their man.
