Matty Cash, defender (5.0m)
Matty Cash was an excellent budget option last term and is expected to be a fairly popular choice this year as well.
Cash scored four and assisted three in the league last season, as well as notching 13 clean sheets to be the 8th-highest scoring defender on FPL last term.
And, barring Joel Matip, every player above Cash was at least 0.5m more expensive than the Villa man on the defender leaderboard.
Ollie Watkins, forward (7.5m)
Ollie Watkins was Aston Villa’s top scorer last campaign and is expected to hit similar numbers in 2022/23.
Watkins scored 11 and assisted three in 2021/22, making him the 8th highest scoring forward on FPL.
And as Aston Villa had a very poor start to 2021/22 under Dean Smith, Watkins’ total is expected to be improved upon now he has a full season under Steven Gerrard with a better team behind him.

Phillipe Coutinho is a slightly risky pick at 7.0m as there may be some cheaper alternatives who score more points.
However, it is hard to judge as Coutinho was only at Villa for half a season. Despite this, he still scored five and assisted three between gameweek 22 and gameweek 38.
