Tom Rogic set to miss Watford

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Tom Rogic is doubtful for tonight’s trip to Watford, having failed to recover from a hamstring injury as quickly as initially hoped.

The Lowdown: Rogic injured

Rogic has not been included in the squad for West Brom’s last three Championship games, in light of the midfielder suffering a hamstring injury, which was initially said to be nothing serious.

Carlos Corberan does have other options in the engine room, given that Nathaniel Chalobah arrived on deadline day, while Okay Yokuslu has recently impressed, however the latest injury news will still be a concern for the manager…

The Latest: Remains a doubt

As reported by the Express & Star, the Australian midfielder remains a doubt for tonight’s clash against Watford, as his hamstring injury is taking longer to heal than first expected, meaning he has been unable to train with the group.

Corberan is more hopeful about Chalobah being able to make his return, after being forced off with a knock in the second half against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

The Verdict: Blow for Corberan

The 30-year-old has only received sporadic game time this season, but when he has received minutes he has impressed, netting one goal and bagging three assists over a six-game period earlier this season.

As such, the hamstring issue came at the wrong time for the Australia international, who has been dubbed ‘excellent’ by the West Brom boss, because he was just starting to prove himself as being worthy of a regular spot in the starting XI.

While Corberan does have other attacking midfield options at his disposal, namely Jed Wallace, who was rated by Sofascore as the best player on the pitch against Coventry, it is a blow to not have a player of Rogic’s quality to bring on as an impact player, especially against tough opponents in Watford.
