Todd Boehly consortium leading race for Chelsea

According to reports, the group led by Todd Boehly has won the fight to become the next owners of Chelsea.

Boehly, who is also a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is now battling against alternative bids led by Sir Martin Broughton and Stephen Pagliuca.

According to the Daily Mail, Boehly is now the obvious frontrunner, aided by the fact that his wealth is considered “more accessible.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Roman Abramovich had requested that the respective bids be upped by £500 million in order to facilitate the donation of more monies to a charity he refers to as “the victims of Ukraine.”

That attitude appears to favor Boehly’s plan if the allegation that money is more easily accessible is confirmed, however, it should be noted that Broughton and Pagliuca have not given up hope of owning the Premier League team fully.

Raine Group, a US merchant bank, is likely to make a final decision in the coming days.
