Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has shared the challenges he faced when transitioning from Spain to London after joining Arsenal.
Partey joined the Gunners in 2020 after initially spending time in Spain with Atletico Madrid, Mallorca and UD Almeria.
“For me, it is the most difficult part of my life, transitioning from Spain, that had become like a home to London, where you don’t know anyone,” he told 3Sports.
Partey had to navigate a new city, team, and culture, making new friends and understanding the team’s dynamics.
“You make new friends, you’re in a new team, you have to understand how the team plays. You have to be a professional.”
Despite initial struggles, Partey has become a key player for Arsenal, controlling the tempo of the game and showcasing his defensive prowess.
“You want to explore the City and at the end of the day you end up with people you don’t really think about, but I always understand before you go into the best part of your life, you have to go through the dirty part.”
With 169 games in North London, Partey has scored nine goals and assisted seven times.
As his contract is set to expire, speculation surrounds his future, but it’s expected he’ll stay with Arsenal given his commitment to the club and team’s ambitions.
