“This young g is good” – Ex-Premier League star Bolasie raves about Kudus UCL display

Former Premier League star Yannick Bolasie heaped praise on young Ghana international Mohammed Kudus for his output against Rangers in the 2022/23 Uefa Champions League Wednesday evening.

The 21-year-old caught the attention of the DR Congo international while starring for Ajax in the opening group game of this season’s Europe campaign.

Bolasie – who previously featured for Crystal Palace, Everton and Aston Villa and Middlesbrough – was left in awe by the display from Kudus as the Dutch champions walloped the visitors from Scotland 4-0 at Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.

The helpless 33-year-old winger took to Twitter to hail the youngster he was watching for the very first time:

The contest was practically over at half-time, with Ajax already 3-0 up; Alvarez headed in unmarked from a corner before two goals in less than two minutes from Steven Berghuis and Mohammed Kudus put them out of sight.

Kudus first assisted Berghuis before taking his turn to feed on a Calvin Bassey assist and fired his shot across goal, past the Rangers goalkeeper and into the far corner.

Steven Bergwijn made it 4-0 later in the second half.

The game was Kudus’ first start for Ajax this season after struggling to make the first eleven in the opening 5 Eredivisie games (combined 74 minutes) this season.

The early season frustrations pushed Mohammed Kudus into an attempt to force a move away from Ajax but the club blocked all offers including once from Premier League side Everton before the summer transfer window closed about a week ago.
