“They’re a good side” – Crystal Palace ace Jeffrey Schlupp praises Aston Villa

Crystal Palace ace Jeffrey Schlupp has heaped praise on Aston Villa following a 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 29-year-old came off the bench to struck an 82nd-minute equaliser as Palace fought back to salvage at Villa Park.

England striker Ollie Watkins, who was a doubt for the game after sustaining an ankle injury against Liverpool in midweek, had put the hosts ahead with his first attempt in the 69th minute of the game.

“That’s both sides of the game there,” Schlupp said in his post-match interview as quoted by the club’s official website.

“They started pushing towards the end, and they had the crowd behind them and started to attack.”

“It was a bit of instinct again: I tried to read the game and a ricochet fell at the edge of the box. I got my body in the way and managed to block it.

“They’re a good side. We are right next to each other in the table and I think it showed. Everyone thought it might end in a draw.

“It was two equal sides going for it today and I think it’s a fair result.”

Jeffrey Schlupp, who is now fully fit is hoping to feature in the last few matches of the team as he targets a return to the national team in the upcoming international assignments.
