Éric Borghini, member of the Comex and also president of the Federal Commission of Referees, wants to put an end to the silence of referees in France. A meeting was notably organized in Clairefontaine on Wednesday, during which the leader gathered the referees of French football, to indicate to them the new path he wanted to take. He also announced this Thursday, in an interview with The Teamwanting to allow the refereeing body to speak at a press conference after the matches.
“We are also going to talk to the referees after the matches. (…) They will speak to the press immediately after the match. Before, you have to prepare them, give them training in media training, in crisis communication, to manage serious problems. I told the referees that we had to stop with this opacity. The players go in front of the press, the coaches and the presidents too. We must stop with the old moons that the referee must not speak. We will train them and they will speak. A new meeting of the Comex also took place this Thursday morning to discuss the subject.
