The newspaper The Athletic announced on Monday that the Liverpool club could be sold in 2023. The sale process would already be launched and several potential buyers showed interest as soon as the announcement behind the scenes of a possible sale of one of the clubs the most emblematic of the Old Continents. The first concrete discussions could take place during the World Cup in Qatar for a potential finalization next year. The current owner’s goal would be to complete the sale before the end of the 2022-23 financial year.
Just a few months after the sale of Chelsea, another member of the Big 5 in England, would be about to change owner(s). Even if the figures for the sale of the London club will not be reached for the Reds, the potential sale will undoubtedly exceed one billion euros. Fenway Sports Group recently had the door on the arrival of new shareholders without mentioning a sale. “There have been a number of recent ownership changes as well as rumors of ownership changes at Premier League clubs and inevitably we are regularly asked about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership of Liverpool. FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders of Liverpool. FSG have already said that under the right conditions we would consider new shareholders if it is in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.
