Amoah has taken his goalscoring form from club side NAC Breda to the national team, netting three important goals in the last two games to give Ghana six points from two away games. But he says the key thing has been the growing confidence of the team that World Cup qualification is possible. “I scored goals, so naturally I am delighted with my performance, but this was down to great team effort,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “We fought for every ball and battled hard throughout and my two goals were just reward for that.” Amoah’s first arrived five minutes into the game, finishing off a great move that involved Kwadwo Asamoah and Prince Tagoe. He then picked up a pass from Asamoah before riffling in a second in the early stages of the second half to cap a great evening. It has taken Amoah, who missed all but one qualifying game in the first round, to four goals from four games. More importantly for Ghana, the goals have contributed to a good run that has put the Black Stars in pole position for the sole World Cup qualifying slot from Group D. “I playing with a lot of belief now, but the most important thing is that the team is close to another World Cup. We are very close now, but the trick will be to tackle our next games with the same sort of positive attitude and we will surely be in South Africa.”
Teamwork has been key – Amoah
