Medeama S.C. coach Ibrahim Tanko expressed his disappointment after a first-half incident in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bechem United, insisting his team was wrongly denied a penalty.
The fall of Kelvin Nkrumah in the box, following a deflected Kamaridini shot, sparked protests from Medeama, but the referee refused to award the spot-kick.
“We should have been awarded a penalty. Because that incident was a penalty but that is football for you,” Tanko said, reflecting on the decision.
While frustrated with officiating, the coach admitted that his side wasted several chances in front of goal.
“The first half was really tough. I think we did not create any chance. In the second half, we created all the chances but unfortunately, we could not score,” he added.
The draw leaves Medeama third in the Ghana Premier League with 22 points, just behind leaders Aduana FC.
Despite the setback, Medeama remains within striking distance of the league leaders and will aim to convert their opportunities in future fixtures.
