Tammy Abraham sends Roma into Conference League final

Tammy Abraham’s 11th-minute header was enough for AS Roma to beat Leicester City 1-0, 2-1 on aggregate, and book a place in the UEFA Europa League Conference League.

The first leg, played at the King Power Stadium last week, ended in a 1-1 draw, making the second leg an exciting affair to watch.

Playing at their Stadio Olimpico against the background of 64,000 jubilant fans, the hosts got off to a perfect start and were rewarded with the early goal as the England international headed home his 25th goal of the season, which would prove decisive both on the night and in the tie.

Despite Brendan Rodgers’ team piling pressure on the hosts for long periods, they never threatened enough and struggled to create clear-cut chances.

The Foxes did not muster a shot on target until the 79th minute when James Maddison’s tame strike was easily saved.

On the other end of the pitch, Roma kept knocking and almost got a second goal but Nicola Zalewski missed a clear chance.

In the end, Roma held on to qualify for their first-ever European final, where they will now face Dutch side Feyenoord in Tirana on May 25.
