Super Eagles Bonuses Cleared: Nigeria Ensures Players Can Focus on AFCON Quarterfinals!

Nigeria’s Super Eagles can finally breathe easy ahead of their crucial AFCON 2025 quarterfinal clash against Algeria, as the Federal Government has confirmed that all outstanding bonuses have been released.

Finance Minister Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite revealed on Thursday that the government, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, has fast-tracked foreign exchange processes to ensure players receive their payments without further delays.

According to the minister, all group-stage bonuses have now cleared the necessary regulatory hurdles, and funds are being converted into foreign currency based on players’ preferences. “Final transfers to domiciliary accounts are already in motion and should reflect starting today or tomorrow,” Uzoka-Anite said.

The announcement comes after reports earlier this week that unpaid bonuses disrupted team training, raising concerns about Nigeria’s readiness for the knockout stage.

Uzoka-Anite assured that systems have been upgraded to prevent future delays, bringing the bonus process in line with international best practices. “Our focus is entirely on supporting the team’s welfare so they can maintain their momentum in the knockout rounds,” she added.

With payments now settled, the Super Eagles are set to continue preparations in Marrakesh, chasing a semifinal spot and a shot at the AFCON 2025 title.
