Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed has reacted to Lens securing a spot in the Europa League playoffs after beating Sevilla 2-1 in their final Champions League match on Tuesday night.
The 23-year-old was instrumental for his team in qualifying for the Champions League and was massive for them as well throughout the group stage, starting all six games.
Finishing third means Lens will drop to the Europa League and continue their campaign there in Europe.
After the game, Salis took to social media to write: “Still alive. We continue our journey”
The game ignited in the 63rd minute when Przemysław Frankowski converted a penalty, putting Lens in the lead.
Later, Sevilla was awarded a penalty, initially saved by Lens’ goalkeeper Brice Samba, but Sergio Ramos capitalized on the retake, equalizing for Sevilla.
In a stunning turn of events, Angelo Fulgini netted a dramatic 96th-minute goal, assisted by Florian Sotoca, sealing Lens’ victory in nail-biting fashion.
Lens continues to excel at home in the Champions League, with five of their six victories in the competition achieved at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. This win extends their unbeaten streak to six consecutive European games on home soil.
Looking ahead, Lens shifts focus to Ligue 1, hosting Stade de Reims at home.
