Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has been selected as a member of Ghana’s newly sworn-in National Anti-Doping Board.
The ex-midfielder, who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, adds valuable sporting and administrative experience to the body.
Appiah remains one of the most respected figures in Ghana football, having captained the national team at their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in Germany in 2006.
He also led the Black Stars to a historic quarter-final finish at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Since retiring from active football, he has stayed closely connected to the game through team management, player welfare initiatives and policy-related roles.
His inclusion is expected to enhance athlete representation and bring practical insight into Ghana’s anti-doping efforts.
The National Anti-Doping Board was officially inaugurated at a ceremony held in Accra.
It will be chaired by Professor Francis Dodoo, a former President of Ghana Athletics and the Ghana Olympic Committee.
Prof Dodoo also chairs the World Athletics Governance Commission and previously led a World Athletics advisory group on the participation of Russian and Belarusian federations.
The 13-member Board includes representatives from sports administration, security services and medical practice, reflecting a broad-based approach to safeguarding clean sport in Ghana.
They are Killian Kwame Abrampah (Secretary), Yennah Ngminlasongna Michael, Dr George Tsey Sabblah, Hazel Juddy Mensah, Anna Pearl Akiwumi Siriboe, Gaetan Charles Adangabey, Mrs Wilhelmina Asamoah, ACP Asiedu Eric Asamoah, Apollonius Osei-Akoto Asare, Dr Christian Hagin, and Wosiela Eve Bobie.
