Inaki Williams’ debut call-up to Ghana for the upcoming friendlies has been discussed in Spanish media.
Williams is one of 29 players named to the squad for this month’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.
The call-up came as no surprise in Spain, given that he announced his intention to play for Ghana in June.
Williams, who was born in Spain and raised by Ghanaians, initially chose to represent Europe and made one appearance.
Williams, however, decided to play for Ghana, who had been tracking him since 2014.
The Athletic Bilbao said explained his decision in July, saying “Trains pass only once and I got on. It’s an opportunity that was never going to be given again and I think I’ve made the right decision.
“I’m going to try to enjoy the moment, my roots and try to give Ghana back the opportunity it gave me.” just gave”.
The 28-year-old is expected to make his Ghana debut in the match against Brazil which is scheduled for September 23 in France.
After that, Black Stars will travel to Spain to play 139th-ranked Nicaragua on September 27.
