Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has disclosed that he feels very loved in Ghana, following his switch to represent the African nation internationally.
After several years rejecting the idea of playing for Ghana, the attacker has finally switched international allegiance from Spain to play for the Black Stars.
Williams is relishing the chance to play for Ghana during an interview with Spanish press ahead of the new La Liga season which kicked off last night.
The 28-year-old who had one cap for Spain before his switch claims he is very loved by Ghana fans and is ready to give his maximum best when he dons the national team shirt.
“Good players travel with their national team. I am 28 years old and this opportunity was not going to be given to me anymore.
“I’m going to enjoy the moment, enjoy my roots and give back to Ghana for the opportunity it has given me,” Inaki Williams said as quoted by Marça.
The highly-rated forward added, “We appreciated that the next African Cups were played in the summer.
“I will represent the country of my parents, where I feel very loved.”
Williams is expected to be in Ghana’s next summon for an international friendly in September. He will then mark his debut if selected by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.
