Southampton looks to keep on course with their current transfer remit this summer at St. Mary’s stadium as Saints could be set for a transfer tussle with Championship outfit Burnley for Manchester City starlet Liam Delap.
Delap, 19, is an academy graduate and one of the most highly-touted youngsters in the Man City pipeline who has already featured six times under Pep Guardiola, but the Winchester-native could be set for increased responsibilities elsewhere according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley could look to Delap this summer as a credible loan option after the loss of Wout Weghorst to Turkish giants Besiktas JK on a season-long loan. With the center-forward options at Turf Moor currently consisting of just Jay Rodríguez, Ashley Barnes, and Matej Vydra, Delap could certainly offer a far different profile than what is currently on offer.
But Southampton is also said to have an interest in Delap but Ralph Hasenhüttl’s outfit is interested in a permanent move for the young striker as Saints look to continue to bring in younger options as they look to prioritize the future.

Southampton has already tapped into Man City’s youth setup twice this summer when they completed deals for both Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia, while also stripping Bundesliga outfit VfL Bochum for Germany U21 international center-back Armel Bella-Kotchap.
Saints also further added depth into the first-team through deals for Rangers’ Joe Aribo and a free transfer for Polish keeper Mateusz Lis.
With a youthful look continuing to take shape on England’s south coast, Delap would certainly fit the bill.
