South African outfit Durban City eye former Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare is nearing a move to South African club Durban City after contract negotiations with Kotoko broke down.

Asare’s deal with Kotoko expired in June 2025, and despite lengthy talks, the two parties couldn’t agree on financial terms.

With his playing time limited this season, Asare has decided to explore opportunities abroad.

Reliable sources indicate that Asare is close to joining Durban City, bringing his experience and clean sheet record to the squad.

Asare, a former Kotoko captain, would be a valuable addition to the team. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, Asare is expected to travel to South Africa soon for a medical and to finalize his contract.

If the deal goes through, it would mark a new chapter for Asare in a foreign league. The transfer would be a fresh start for the talented goalkeeper.
