Eric Bailly has reacted to calls for Ralf Rangnick to play him ahead of Harry Maguire at Manchester United.
Maguire will retain the armband for the duration of the season but has come under fire for some poor performances in the Premier League this season.
Rangnick has been loyal to Maguire throughout the year, limiting Bailly to only four Premier League matches – three of them from the start.
An Instagram photo of Manchester United in training before the Arsenal game inspired one user to suggest that Raphael Varane and Bailly should start in defense ahead of Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
Bailly reacted to the user’s reply an hour later with the message “Please!” followed by a sobbing laughing emoji and hands in the prayer position in anticipation of Saturday’s Premier League match against Arsenal.
Varane has resumed training at Carrington following a knock and might push his way into the starting XI at the Emirates, with Manchester United three points behind Arsenal despite having played one more game.
