Simon Jordan is very much an acquired taste for many, outspoken as he is, but at least you know what you’re getting with the broadcaster whether you like him or not.
He’s in an interesting space within the media given that though he is employed by one or two companies to impart his opinion, he’s seemingly answerable to neither given his strident views.
The former Crystal Palace owner can be quite divisive and does love the sound of his own voice, but when he speaks, football fans listen.
On this occasion, he’s run the rule over the Championship runners and riders, and prefers one club to be promoted alongside Leicester City at the expense of another.
“Always maintained, one of the most intimidating grounds is Elland Road. One of the best atmospheres is Elland Road. This is a club of significant stature that were out of the Premier League for 17 years,” he said on talkSPORT (h/t Leeds United News).
“A huge club. The scale of that club should warrant being in the Premier League. As a football person, with all due respect to the others, I’d rather see Leeds United in the Premier League than Southampton.”
At this point, the all whites certainly have the edge over the Saints and Ipswich Town who have recently dropped from second to fourth position.
Daniel Farke’s Championship experience is clearly coming into play now, and he has his Leeds side playing a remarkable brand of polished, attacking football that’s very pleasing on the eye.
If they’re able to stay focused and pick up results as they do so, then there’s no reason why the Elland Road outfit can’t join the Foxes in the Premier League next season.
