The 2021/22 Serie A title will be decided on the final day after contenders AC Milan and Inter Milan won their matches on Sunday.
Inter beat Cagliari 3-1 with Milan emerging 2-0 winners over Atalanta in the same evening with the latter now having the advantage of just winning the final game of the season to be considered champions for the first time in eleven years.
In the Inter game, former Man United defender Matteo Darmian gave them a 25th-minute lead after heading in an Ivan Perisic cross. Striker Lautaro Martinez then doubled their tally in the 51st minute but Cagliari gave themselves a fighting chance through Lykagiannis almost immediately.
Martinez however cooled the game’s nervy end with a cool finish late on with the result cutting the gap between them and Milan to two points heading into the final game of the season against Sampdoria.
AC Milan are now 15 games unbeaten in Serie A:

Earlier in the day, Rafael Leão and Theo Hernandes gave Milan a healthy 2-0 win over Atalanta. Leo used his pace to finish off a lightning counter-attack and put the hosts in front before Hernández doubled their advantage with 15 minutes remaining with an outstanding solo effort.
The Stefano Pioli’s side will be crowned Champions if they beat Sassuolo in their final game of the season.
