Al-Nassr are expected to announce their first signing of the summer transfer window within the next 48 hours after Portuguese midfielder Samu Costa travelled from Spain to Riyadh to complete the final steps of his move.
Costa, who currently plays for RCD Mallorca, was pictured at Mallorca Airport preparing to board a flight to Saudi Arabia. His journey comes after an agreement was reached between the player, the Saudi club and the other parties involved in the transfer.
The 25-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before signing the formal documents that will complete his move to Al-Nassr. Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported that the transfer has been fully agreed and that only the official procedures remain.
Costa confirmed in exclusive comments to Cadena SER that he had reached a comprehensive agreement with Al-Nassr over the move. The midfielder said the financial terms, contract length and additional clauses had all been settled.
He added that the medical examination and the completion of the formal paperwork were the only outstanding stages before the transfer could be officially announced.
Cadena SER also published an exclusive image of Costa at the airport, where he was preparing to travel to Riyadh and join Al-Nassr’s training camp. The photograph is expected to increase anticipation that the club will confirm the deal shortly.
Costa has made 108 official appearances for RCD Mallorca across domestic and continental competitions since joining the club. During that time, he has established himself as an important figure in the team’s midfield, with his technical and physical qualities contributing to his growing reputation.
The Portugal international previously played for Spanish side Almeria and Portuguese club Sporting Braga before moving to RCD Mallorca. He subsequently became one of the key players in the Mallorca midfield.
A move to Al-Nassr would represent the fourth professional club of Costa’s career. The Saudi club expect his arrival to provide additional technical and tactical depth in midfield ahead of next season.
The transfer is also set to become the first of a number of signings planned by Al-Nassr during the current summer market. The club are expected to make the move official within 48 hours, once Costa has completed his medical and the final contracts have been signed.
His arrival would give Al-Nassr an established midfielder with experience in both Spanish and Portuguese football, while bringing the player a new challenge in the Saudi professional game. For now, the medical remains the final significant requirement before the deal can be confirmed.
