Sadat Karim scores in Halmstads defeat

Ghana’s Sadat Karim netted the consolation goal as promotion-chasing Halmstads BK lost grip on top spot in the Swedish Superettan following a 2-1 defeat away to Utsiktens FC Monday night.

The former Hearts of Oak striker converted a penalty in the 65th minute to halve the deficit for the visitors.

It marked Sadat’s 5th goal in the 2022 campaign.

Utsiktens took a 2-0 lead courtesy of an own goal from teammate Andreas Bengtsson in the 12th minute and Karl Bohm in the 25th.

Both sides finished the game with 10 men each.

Following the defeat, Halmstads BK drop to second position with 52 points. They are one point behind IF Brommapojkarna after 27 matches.

Per the standings, Halmstads need at least four points from their final 3 games of the league campaign to ensure promotion to the 2023 Swedish Allsvenskan.
