Rudolf Mensah says his evolution at Swedru All Blacks is being shaped by head coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fathi, who is pushing him to become what he calls a “Hybrid Striker.”
Mensah, who was central to the team’s promotion last season with a remarkable 27 goals in 30 matches, picked up the Man of the Match award against Dreams FC.
His opener in the 16th minute set the tone for All Blacks’ 3-2 win over the hosts at the University of Ghana Stadium.
“When the coach-Ahmed Fathy-came in, he’s [been] trying his best to try and create some different type of football in Ghana,” he said.
“He’s trying to create hybrid players; for me, he’s trying to create a hybrid striker in me. More like I can also be a midfielder, I can be a defender and also be a striker.”
The victory offered a morale boost for the side, which has been searching for consistent form away from home.
They sit 12th on the table with 11 points ahead of their next encounter against Young Apostles on November 30.
