Roma might face a major exodus at the conclusion of the season as a result of Jose Mourinho’s outburst following Inter’s Coppa Italia elimination.
The Special One delivered another of his memorable post-match comments following his side’s 2-0 defeat to the Nerazzurri on Tuesday.
The former Manchester United manager couldn’t help himself as he lashed out at Roma’s starting following his team’s midweek loss at the San Siro. Furious by his men’s continued lackluster performance, he even pushed some of his first-team strugglers to bid farewell to the Stadio Olimpico in the summer.
“I want to know why, playing face to face with Inter, you screwed up in the first ten minutes!” he said as relayed by Il Corriere dello Sport.
“And then I want to know why, also against Milan, you screwed up in 10 minutes! Everyone, no one excluded! Inter is a super team, you had them in front of you and instead of finding the right motivations, you screwed up! The biggest flaw in a man is a lack of balls, lack of personality.
“Are you afraid of games like this? Then go to Serie C, where you will never find teams champions, the best stadiums, or the pressure of great football. You are people without balls.”
Mourinho is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his team’s lack of attitude, and some of Roma’s key players may be released at the conclusion of the season. According to Corriere dello Sport, through Pagine Romaniste, five first-team regulars may be on their way out this summer.
Jordan Veretout, Roger Ibanez, Matias Vina, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Nicolo Zaniolo are five players who have been connected with summer exits, and all of them look to be eligible to depart Roma when the transfer market reopens in July.
While Veretout and Ibanez have fallen out of favor with Mourinho, Vina is set to reclaim a starting spot if Leonardo Spinazzola returns from injury. Due to Mkhitaryan’s acrimonious relationship with his former Manchester United manager, Roma are unlikely to offer him a new contract.
