Roberto Firmino injury update

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given an update on striker Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian missed Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday night due to a foot injury that he picked during the Man City clash over the weekend.

Luis Diaz played upfront alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the usual three-man frontline.

The trio were on the scoresheet in a near-perfect team performance at home, with Salah scoring a brace.

Speaking after the match, Klopp offered an update on the club’s No.9;

“Bobby was not involved because in the very last situation of the City game he got something on his foot. It’s not really bad.”

Liverpool will face Merseyside rivals this weekend, and Klopp, asked whether the forward will be ready for the clash, added;

“We hope so.

“Actually, we were a bit worried but the scan was fine. But it’s still very painful and that’s why there was no chance [against Man United].”

The win saw Liverpool move above Man City to the top of the Premier League table, but the defending champions could regain their spot with a win on Wednesday night at home to Brighton.
