Reports: Mourinho in line to replace Pochettino at PSG

According to reports, Jose Mourinho has emerged as a frontrunner to succeed Mauricio Pochettino as manager of Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Following his firing from Tottenham Hotspur in April 2021, where he had replaced Pochettino in the dugout under unusual circumstances, the 59-year-old returned to managing with Roma during the 2021-22 season.

Roma and Mourinho had a decent first season together, with the team qualifying for the Europa League after finishing sixth in Serie A, with the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager also seeing his side win the Europa Conference League title.

Mourinho might be on the move again after just a year in Italy, according to talkSport, which reports that PSG is contemplating his services ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Despite taking the club back to the Ligue 1 championship at the first try, Pochettino is thought to be on the verge of being fired in Paris after an uninspiring season.

However, the Argentinian failed in the Champions League, which was the major ambition of the Qatari owners, with a round-of-16 defeat to Real Madrid creating outrage among the club’s fans.

Despite dismal stints with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho has won league titles in England, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, as well as each of the three European trophies on offer, during his storied career.
