Reports: Arteta frustrated at Arsenal’s transfer activity

Mikel Arteta is believed to be irritated with the club’s indecisiveness in the transfer market.

The Gunners have yet to announce any new signings or upcoming transactions for the summer window, but they have already said goodbye to Alexandre Lacazette, who has rejoined Lyon on a free transfer.

Mohamed Elneny has agreed to a new one-year deal, while discussions are underway with Eddie Nketiah, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Arsenal are set to confirm the acquisitions of goalkeeper Matt Turner and 19-year-old Brazilian striker Marquinhos from Sao Paulo in the near future, but the teenager will most likely start the season with the Under-23s.

Tensions have reportedly developed upstairs, with the Daily Mail reporting that Arteta is “mad” with a lack of early action and is concerned that some of the club’s top targets may slip through their fingers.

Arsenal want all incomings and outgoings authorized by the club’s owners, KSE, according to the article, and Arteta is concerned that such a regulation will stymie their hopes of a successful window.

Following Lacazette’s departure, Arsenal is expected to recruit Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City to reinforce their offensive ranks.

But the Gunners are yet to discuss personal conditions or meet Man City’s £50 million asking price, and clubs who can provide Champions League football have suddenly entered the competition.

Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo has been mooted as a partial alternative, although Arsenal officials are allegedly wary of signing the Italy international.

Despite Elneny’s contract extension, Arsenal are said to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, with Youri Tielemans of Leicester City likely to be a strong contender.

Due to the injuries to Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney, defensive reinforcements have been suggested, although Arsenal appear to be on the verge of losing Djed Spence to Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal are also said to be optimistic in reaching a new contract with Bukayo Saka, who has only two years left on his current contract and has attracted interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.
