Release clause reportedly set to become active in Haaland’s Man City deal in 2024

Revealed: The release clause set to become active in Erling Haaland’s Man City deal in 2024

A big-money release clause has been included in the contract of incoming Manchester City signing Erling Haaland, according to reports.

The bombshell news which Sky Blues fans across the globe were patiently awaiting was of course finally forthcoming earlier this week.

This came in the form of confirmation that Norwegian sensation Haaland is primed to link up with Pep Guardiola’s side, after an ‘agreement in principle’ was struck with Borussia Dortmund over a summer transfer:

Haaland, it is understood, has set the Premier League champions back a fee of just €60 million (or close to it), owing to a clause becoming active in the hitman’s Dortmund contract.

As alluded to above, though, City themselves could, down the line, fall victim to a similar situation, should a rival club from across the continent be willing to spend big to add Haaland to their attacking ranks.

This comes amid claims stemming from Germany that a release clause is too set to come into play in the 21-year-old’s contract at the Etihad, in two years’ time.

As per a report from Bild, Haaland will be free to depart City in the summer of 2024 for a fee in the region of €150 million.

Word of Haaland’s apparent Sky Blues exit route of course comes fresh on the back of the Norwegian international’s name taking centre stage in the English headlines once more on Wednesday night.

This came as soon-to-be teammate Kevin De Bruyne sent something of a welcome message to Haaland, en route to the midfielder’s remarkable four-goal haul against Wolves:
