Real Madrid’s proposed move for RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has become significantly more complicated after the Spanish club discovered the player is still tied to a second agency.
The development has angered Real Madrid, who had been negotiating with Roc Nation over a possible deal for the Cote d’Ivoire international. According to the report from Defensa Central, the club was unaware that Roc Nation was not Diomande’s only representative.
Ivorian journalist Malick Traore reported that Diomande also remains under contract with another agency, a situation that could disrupt and increase the complexity of the negotiations.
“Real Madrid became angry with Diomande’s representatives at Roc Nation after discovering that the player was still under contract with other agents,” Traore said.
The report states that Real Madrid’s frustration is directed at Roc Nation rather than Diomande himself. The Spanish club is understood to be unhappy because the agency allegedly failed to disclose the separate representation agreement.
Diomande is reportedly still represented by Maxidel, meaning Real Madrid must now negotiate with that agency as well. The club only became aware of the arrangement after the issue was uncovered.
Before the discovery, Real Madrid had apparently reached an almost complete agreement with Roc Nation and the player over the proposed transfer. The remaining stage was expected to be talks with RB Leipzig to determine the fee for the move.
That fee was never expected to be low, but the involvement of Maxidel has created another obstacle for Real Madrid and could push up the overall cost of the deal.
Maxidel is said to hold representation rights for Diomande until the player leaves RB Leipzig. As a result, Real Madrid will need to reach an agreement with the agency before it can complete the transfer, adding another layer to negotiations that had appeared to be nearing completion.
The Spanish club’s difficulties do not end with the agency dispute. RB Leipzig are also reportedly determined to make Diomande’s departure during the current summer transfer window as difficult as possible.
The German club is holding firm on its financial demands, with the asking price understood to be more than 100m euros. RB Leipzig have no intention of offering Real Madrid a discount, according to the report.
That stance, combined with the previously undisclosed agreement involving Maxidel, leaves Real Madrid facing a more expensive and complicated route to signing the Ivorian forward. While talks with the player and Roc Nation had been close to completion, the club must now resolve the representation issue before negotiations over the transfer fee with RB Leipzig can progress.
