French top-tier side RC Lens have secured the signing of Ghana’s Salis Abdul Samed on a five-year contract.
The Stade Félix-Bollaert outfit had to pay fellow Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot 63 a transfer fee of 5 million euros plus bonuses to buy out the last three years of the contract of the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.
Samed played 31 games and helped Clermont Foot stay up in their debut season in the Ligue 1.
The tireless runner is credited with remarkable intensity and passing quality (in the top 5 of the best pass rate in Ligue 1 last season).
“We are happy to finalize the arrival of Salis, a player we have been following very closely for many months.
“He was our priority in this position.
“He is a player who has a lot of pace, a lot of running, and a lot of intensity.
“Salis is a complete midfielder, influential in both defensive and offensive aspects, but with a lot of potential for development.
“His qualities, his commitment, and his generosity make Salis a perfect fit for our project,” RC Lens Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi stated.
Salis Abdul Samed is yet to be capped by Ghana. He was called up for the Black Stars’ campaign at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Cameroon but had to pull out due to injury.
