RB Salzburg have rejected a final €10m offer from Club Brugge for Ghanaian winger Edmund Baidoo and have declared the player non-transferable for the 2026/27 season.
Club Brugge had spent several weeks negotiating for the 19-year-old, but their latest proposal has failed to change the Austrian club’s position. RB Salzburg have now closed the door on a summer move and intend for Baidoo to remain in Austria as part of their first-team plans.
The decision ends Club Brugge’s pursuit of one of their priority transfer targets. The Belgian club had hoped that a record-breaking final offer would persuade RB Salzburg to release the Ghana international before the transfer window closes, but the Red Bull-owned side have refused to enter further discussions over his departure this summer.
According to Sky Sports Austria, Club Brugge submitted their final bid in recent hours. The offer was designed to test whether RB Salzburg could be convinced to reconsider, but it was not enough to alter the club’s stance.
The matter was escalated to the owner of the Red Bull group, who approved the decision to classify Baidoo as non-transferable for the 2026/27 campaign. RB Salzburg regard him as an important part of their sporting project and want to give him a significant role in the first-team squad this season.
Baidoo will therefore continue his development with RB Salzburg rather than join Club Brugge. The Austrian club’s position is that the Ghanaian winger can make a meaningful contribution to the team during the forthcoming campaign, rather than leave at the current stage of his progress.
Despite the breakdown of the proposed transfer this summer, there is understood to be an agreement in principle between the parties regarding Baidoo’s longer-term future. Unless unforeseen circumstances arise, he will be permitted to leave RB Salzburg in the summer of 2027, when the club believes the timing will be right to consider a transfer.
That understanding means the current impasse is not necessarily a permanent refusal to sell the player. However, RB Salzburg’s immediate priority is to retain Baidoo for the 2026/27 season and establish him as an important member of their first-team setup.
For Club Brugge, the decision brings an end to an extensive attempt to sign the winger. The Blauw & Zwart are now turning their attention to alternative targets as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
