Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr. Randy Abbey, has confirmed that Ghana’s technical setup will receive further reinforcements ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana Football Association bolstered Otto Addo’s backroom staff with experienced figures such as Winfried Schäfer, Desmond Ofei, and Gregory De Grauwe.
Dr. Abbey says the process of strengthening will continue as Ghana prepares for next summer’s World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
“From where I sit, we are contracted to Otto. I haven’t seen the employers of Otto Addo call for a change,” he said. “Before every major competition, AFCON or World Cup, we strengthen the technical setup, scouting, and medical team. We’re going to have that conversation to identify where our weaknesses are and how to improve.”
He emphasized that the goal is not to replace the head coach but to improve the support system around him.
“The focus is on improving the structure around him, not changing him. We want to ensure the team is better equipped technically and tactically for the challenge ahead,” he added.
Meanwhile, John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda will continue to serve as members of the technical team.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the draw is held on December 5.
