Rahim defends Zamalek choice

Ayew signed the long term deal on Tuesday to join the Cairo giants but the wisdom of the deal was questioned almost immediately especially with Junior Agogo’s bitter experience in mind.

Agogo joined Zamalek in a blaze of glory but is now engaged in a tussle with the club at Fifa over unpaid salaries and unfair treatment.

Legendary winger George Arthur also returned from Cairo in the 80s with horror stories but Rahim says he can make his deal work.

“People think when you move to certain countries that you are finished but it is not always the case,” he told KickOffGhana.com.   “I prefer to use Prince Tagoe as the example. He first went to Saudi Arabia and many people said it was not a good move but he shinned there and is now in Germany.”

“Everything will depend on my hard work in Cairo and maybe if I do well, I will eventually get my dream move to Europe because that is what I really want. In the meantime I have signed for a big club and I am just focused on doing well and winning trophies.”

Rahim is the first son of Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele and came to national prominence at the inaugural Africa Nations Championships with a blend of powerful running, good passing and abundant energy in midfield.
