Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed he had talks with Liverpool before extending his stay with Ligue 1 giants.
Mbappe this week renewed his deal to stay in France after snubbing the chance to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid. In an interview with The Telegraph, he also revealed he had spoken to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit,” said Mbappe.
Earlier this month, Klopp said the club had a good relationship with the player but were not in a financial position to compete for his signature.
The Reds were again in the running on this occasion, which led to a meeting between Mbappe and Liverpool in Monaco as discussions were held.
“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favorite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why you will have to ask her!
“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club,” revealed the PSG star.
PSG turned down Madrid’s official bid of 180 million euros ($190 million) — the same amount it signed Mbappé for from Monaco in 2017.
