New Black Stars boy, Tariq Lamptey has revealed the depth of happiness in his heart after joining the Ghana senior national team camp for the first time since switching from England.
A couple of months back, the defender took a decision to ditch England who he had represented at the age levels for the country of his parents and has since been cleared by the world football governing body Fifa.
Lamptey was subsequently named in 2022 World Cup-bound Ghana’s squad for September preparatory games against Brazil and Nicaragua.
The Brighton Hove Albion right-back joined up with his new teammates at their base in France on Monday and is already settling in well.
“I am m very proud to be here and I am really determined to train hard, give the best as I can,” he said in an interview with GFA Communications.
Ghana come up against Brazil in their first game on Friday, September 23.
“I’m looking forward to the game on Friday.
“In this game, you have to prepare very well. You prepare based on how you want to play and we are already excited and looking forward to playing against the [Brazil] team,” Lamptey noted.
The Ghana-Brazil game kicks off at 18:30 GMT.
