PHOTOS: GFA Foundation, Ghana Tourism Authority donate blood to save lives

The Ghana Football Association, GFA Foundation joined forces with the Ghana Tourism Authority for a Blood Donation Exercise on Friday, August 11, 2023.

The exercise which took place at the forecourt of the Ghana Tourism Authority head office at Ridge in Accra is part of activities marking the 50th anniversary milestone of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The Blood Donation exercise was also part of the GFA Foundation’s activities for the year and a major plank of the GFA Employee Volunteer programme.

The two entities believe there is an urgent need to stock safe, adequate efficacious blood and blood products in blood banks in all hospitals across the country to support medical and surgical procedures such as treatment of complications during pregnancy and childbirth and severe anaemia in children.

Scores of volunteers, staff of the Ghana Football Association, members of the ever powerful Die Hard Supporters Group, managers, coaches and players of football clubs and members of keep fit clubs thronged the premises of the Ghana Tourism Authority on Friday.

All blood donors were given certificates so that when they need blood, they will be given without paying for or replacing it.
