Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo could make his debut for the club this weekend in the English FA Cup.
The 26-year-old forward officially joined the Premier League champions on Friday, January 9, from AFC Bournemouth, signing a five-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
“Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth,” the club said in an official statement.
Speaking ahead of the FA Cup third-round clash against Exeter City, Guardiola praised Semenyo’s quality and confirmed the forward will be included in the squad.
“He [Antoine Semenyo] will be selected [against Exeter]. I don’t know if he’ll start, but he’ll be selected,” Guardiola said during his pre-match interview on Friday.
The fixture is scheduled for a 3:00 pm kick-off on Saturday, January 10, at the Etihad Stadium, giving City fans a first chance to see their record-signing in action.
