Pau Torres has handed a boost to a trio of chasing Premier League clubs this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Villareal defender is now ready to leave his hometown club after helping them to a Champions League semi-final.
There was significant interest in the Spaniard last summer, but following helping Unai Emery’s side to Europa League success at the expense of Manchester United (ironically one of the interested clubs), the defender chose to stay and help his side through their first Champions League campaign in a decade.

Now, however, with Villareal sitting four points behind even a Conference League spot for next season with four games to go, the Daily Mail claim that the Spaniard has decided to move on, with his buyout clause still at £55m 12 months on from significant interest.
Trio of Premier League clubs interested
It is thought that both Manchester clubs, in addition to Tottenham, are interested in adding Torres to their squad this summer.
At present, the Lilywhites appear to have the most concrete interest, while Manchester City are currently well-stocked in the centre-back department, and Manchester United are awaiting the arrival of Erik ten Hag before they make any transfer decisions.
And, the Daily Mail claim that while ‘both those sides remain among his admirers’, ‘Tottenham believe they can give him the ideal next step – providing they can meet Villarreal’s price’.
Chelsea were also thought to be interested, but with current ownership issues it is unclear on their position transfer-wise this summer as of yet. For now, it seems that Spurs are in the driving seat.
