Paris Saint-Germain are close to securing a notable deal from the Italian league during the current summer transfer window, with Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki the subject of their latest approach.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said Paris Saint-Germain had presented their project directly to Suzuki as they seek to obtain the goalkeeper’s approval for the move.
“Paris Saint-Germain presented their project to Zion Suzuki in order to get the goalkeeper’s green light on the deal,” Romano wrote on his account on X.
The French club are now prepared to continue discussions with Parma, according to Romano, as they attempt to advance negotiations for the Japan international.
“Paris Saint-Germain are ready to move forward with Parma in negotiations,” Romano added.
Suzuki has also attracted interest from Juventus, who were keen to bring the goalkeeper to the club. However, their initial offer was rejected, leaving Paris Saint-Germain ready to pursue talks with Parma.
The situation means Paris Saint-Germain have made their intentions clear by speaking to the player about their plans, while negotiations with Parma remain an important part of completing the proposed transfer. Suzuki’s response to the club’s project is also central to the next stage of the deal.
The goalkeeper position at Paris Saint-Germain saw competition last season, when Lucas Chevalier and Matvei Safonov shared starting duties. That arrangement followed the sale of Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City.
With Donnarumma no longer at the club, Chevalier and Safonov alternated as Paris Saint-Germain’s first-choice goalkeeper last season. Suzuki’s possible arrival would therefore add another option to the squad as the club considers its goalkeeping plans for the new campaign.
For now, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to continue working with Parma after putting their proposal to Suzuki. Juventus remain interested after seeing their opening offer turned down, but the latest indication is that Paris Saint-Germain are pressing ahead with their own attempt to reach an agreement for the Parma goalkeeper.
The transfer remains dependent on progress in negotiations between the clubs and on Suzuki giving his approval to Paris Saint-Germain’s proposal.
