Former Black Stars defender John Paintsil has cautioned Mohammed Kudus against self-centeredness after sealing the West Ham move.
Kudus penned a five-year contract with the London-based team from Dutch giants Ajax and was unveiled on Sunday.
He becomes the third player from Ghana to don the West Ham jersey, following in the footsteps of John Paintsil and Ayew himself.
“He shouldn’t be about playing at West Ham to win or even think about the African best player award but play well and at the right time, it will come,” Paintsil said.
The specifics of the transfer deal between West Ham United and Ajax have not been officially disclosed, but reports suggest that the move involved a €44.5 million fee.
Kudus’ signing has generated considerable excitement among fans and pundits alike, with expectations running high for his contributions to West Ham’s future successes.
