Black Stars head coach Otto Addo was in attendance at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Thursday night to monitor Ghanaian players during the Europa League encounter between Red Bull Salzburg and FC Basel.
The match featured two Ghana internationals, Edmund Baidoo for Salzburg and Jonas Adjei Adjetey for Basel. While Adjetey completed the full 90 minutes for the Swiss side, Baidoo was substituted late in the game, making way for Karim Konaté in the 90th minute. Salzburg went on to secure a 3-1 victory.
Addo’s presence in Austria is part of a wider monitoring exercise as he intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been closely tracking the performances of Ghanaian players across Europe in recent weeks.
Earlier, the Black Stars coach made a trip to Spain to watch Abdul Mumin and Kwasi Sibo, and has also followed the progress of key players including Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Mohammed Salisu, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Mohammed Kudus.
These scouting visits are aimed at strengthening team cohesion, fostering unity, and building a strong competitive culture within the Black Stars setup as Ghana steps up preparations for the global showpiece.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. The tournament will be hosted jointly by Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America, with kick-off scheduled for June 2026.
