Coach Otto Addo says he has a very good and ‘trusted’ Black Stars technical team that supports him very well and that is imperative.
The 46-year-old ex-Ghana international was engaged to lead a team of four coaches for the World Cup playoffs after Serbian Milovan Rajevac was fired after a disastrous Afcon 2021 outing at the start of the year.
Put in charge as head coach, Addo has enjoyed the support of George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as assistants while former Premier League manager Chris Hughton backed them in a Technical Advisory role.
Together, they helped Ghana secure a place at the upcoming 2022 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria – a feat which has now earned them an extension to take the senior national team through all games from now until the end of the year.
“I have a contract for six months until after the World Cup.
“We have international matches in June, a ten-day trip in September and then the preparation for the World Cup tournament are on the agenda,” Addo told transfermarkt.
The talent trainer at German giants Borrusia Dortmund says he is looking forward to reuniting with his trusted backroom.
“From scouts to analysts to trainers, I have a very good team around me that I trust and that supports me very well. That’s the most important.
“My assistant coach Didi Dramani takes care of many things on site.
“Our Technical Advisor Chris Hughton also does a lot of the work for me.”
“My former teammate and good friend Francis Bugri forwards our elaborated plans to the appropriate departments.
“In the evenings we get together several times a week in zoom meetings and exchange ideas very closely and in detail.
“Of course, this is a challenge and for me, it has a lot to do with the appropriate organization and control, but I think we handle it very well,” he added.
Since qualifying for the World Cup on March 29, the Black Stars will be regrouping for the first time for the qualifiers to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). They play Madagascar and the Central African Republic on June 1 and 5 respectively.
